Muir, Autograph Collection will open its doors on Nova Scotia’s Halifax waterfront in Summer 2021, bringing 110 keys, a restaurant and event spaces to Queen’s Marque, a mixed-use development in the heart of the city.
Envisioned, developed and operated by The Armour Group, Muir – Scottish Gaelic for ‘sea’ – will draw inspiration from the region’s culture, character and spirit, with Nova Scotian practice MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects and Canadian interiors firm Studio Munge honouring its materiality and heritage.

This ‘Born of this Place’ narrative is reflected through marine-inspired forms that jut dramatically above and over the ocean, while inside, bespoke furniture and lighting crafted in Canada are a modern interpretation of East Coast design and add warmth. Upstairs, guestrooms feature local art and most provide waterfront views.

Dining selections are curated and convenient; culinary destination Drift Salon draws on local, seasonal ingredients to create modern interpretations of traditional Atlantic Canadian fare, while a secret speakeasy provides an exclusive guests-only experience and is complete with a waterfront terrace.
As the first hotel in Nova Scotia to be affiliated with Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, Muir will offer business travellers exclusive car and driver services, complimentary meeting rooms and affiliation with Marriott Bonvoy. For fitness lovers meanwhile, a wellness centre is equipped with vitality and cold plunge pools, a halotherapy salt room, high performance equipment and a workout studio.
Guests can also browse Muir’s Art Gallery, explore the extensive multi-million-dollar public art collection throughout the wider Queen’s Marque development, and for an entirely different perspective, climb aboard Muir’s yacht or motorboat to see a side of the waterfront city that locals know best.
